Bots are generally scripts that can edit pages with little or no human interaction and as such, have a few extra features (such as access to the API).
As of now, there are no bots currently running on the wiki, nor are there any current plans to create them. Should any ever be made though, they will be added to a list on this page so their function can be explained.
