Mega Man Legacy Collection is a compilation of the first six Mega Man games that was developed by Digital Eclipse and published by Capcom. It was released worldwide on August 24, 2015 for Windows, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. A port for the Nintendo Switch, alongside Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, was released on May 22, 2018.

File formats

  • .png - Image format
  • .wav - Audio format
  • .pie - Archive file (renamed .zip file)
  • .3dst - Image format (3DS)

data.pie

The "data.pie" file is actually a .zip file with a different extension, so tools such as 7-Zip should work fine. The file in question in the Windows/Steam port requires a password in order for a tool to extract its contents.

When you are required to enter the password, copy and paste this line of text and it should extract it:

  • P091uWEdwe4lI6StDNMNlkodPGvJ38bL3HW6t3BCMYdFi83FXKu7k0NsHP8caDKS

The PlayStation 4 version's data.pie file isn't encrypted so it can be easily extracted. Meanwhile, the 3DS and Switch ports don't have the aforementioned file.
