I wrote a python bot/proxy once. It sucks, but it was fun to write. The most important part of the code, the protocol definition, was stolen from bravo. I haven't updated it since beta 1.4. It started as a bot, then I realized that having bots for stuff that's better to implement as bukkit plugins sucks, then I turned it into a proxy which doesn't do much but it helped me fix a bug on the bravo server once (my biggest contribution to that project, iirc the lighting data on the chunks was being sent with the wrong order).
